I'm OBSESSED with the holiday season. I love love love love looooove Thanksgiving, Christmas and lucky for me my birthday falls in between. I've already started thinking about what I want to get the people I love most (and myself). Not to toot my own horn but it's been said that I'm a really good gift giver. I think it's because I honestly love really thinking about each person's personality and what would put a huge smile on their face. I'm definitely going to do a couple of gift guides leading up to the holiday season but I'm kicking things off with a few survival/gift guides.
Each family is very different and as I was compiling things I like this past week...my warped sense of humor kicked in and I thought of the trip home like visiting the wild. What would the guy from Man VS Wild take home? Here's what I came up with:
1. Baker's Twine from Anthropologie - You could use the twine which also comes in a very pretty green, to wrap presents or to build a make-shift raft and high tail it out of your families house.
2. Little Black Book from Amazon.com - Perfect for journaling your visit and keeping track of the days in case they begin running together.
3. Laguiole Cheese Knife Set from Anthropologie - Nothing says family fun like cheese, mmm but in keeping with the theme, if you needed to (handle any business) well...you know.
4. Gold Handcuffs from Kiki de Montparnasse - What do you get the gal who has everything? 24karat gold handcuffs obviously. So while this might be a slightly inappropriate gift for Auntie Rose, it's probably perfect for you. Also, should you need to take hostages, you're good to go.
5. Crystal 10 Eye Boots from Dr. Martens - I think it's pretty clear that if you're going to survive the holidays you WILL need combat boots. If you're anything like me, the idea of combat boots adorned with Swarovski crystals is enough to send you into a full blown tizzy. They are available in London now and supposedly coming States side for the holidays. I'll believe it when I see it and when I see it, I will buy it!
6. iPhone 4s from Apple - Aside from calling for help or ordering Chinese if you've burned the turkey, I'm told this phone does EVERYTHING so...if you get stuck at the children's table, troll the web and text your friends. The 4s is still back ordered. *waiting*
7. Laser Cut Star Gloves from Top Shop - These are fabulous and just make sense. Should it be chilly, should you need not leave any fingerprints, and so on, etc. etc. Also available in cobalt blue. Yum.
More to come!
