Saturday, October 29, 2011Much like everyone else in the Northeast, I was horrified to see snow falling in October. Last winter was brutal and honestly I'm not looking forward to any traces of winter *at all*. So to weather the storm I did what any respectable New Yorker would do. Brunch!
"Tonalli is an indigenous Nahuati word meaning soul, energy and destiny. The Aztecs (Mexico) and other indigenous peoples believed that a person had three essences, the heart (teyolia), the liver (ihiyotl) and the head (tonally). The tonalli was located at the top of the head. A person's tonalli governs their fate in life, what they are destined to do and what actions are most positive for a person to take. Tonalli comes from the word tona which means "to shine, to be warm", emphasizing the life affirming nature of a man's destiny if fulfilled."
I had French toast perfection that did quite feel like a spiritual experience! Mmm!
The bar is beautiful and inspiring - I really can't wait to come back here for cocktails. I discovered this place on Delivery.com and have ordered a good number of times, but after now going to see it in person...def going to be added to the rotation.
And...off to Philly I go for some family time. See ya on the sunny side (hopefully we DO see the sun this weekend).

Eloquii Launch Event
Friday, October 28, 2011This past Wednesday, The Limited hosted a launch event for their new plus collection Eloquii. The event, hosted by Gabi Gregg of popular blog, GabiFresh, was held at the Cooper Union Hotel in Manhattan and honestly was a very pleasant surprise.

What I took away from the event is that this is a brand that is genuinely interested in getting it right. Though the collection is mostly Career, there are sprinkles of separates that I would incorporate into my wardrobe.
I liked pretty much everything but liking things and actually wanting to wear them are a little bit different for me. Eloquii's first collection is attractive, fashion forward and what I like most about it is that, for Career wear it's full of bright colors, snazzy patterns and spot on trend silhouettes.

The site launches this coming Tuesday, so no matter if you're a career gal in a conservative office, like to punch up your work clothes with bright colors and fun pieces or more like myself which is much more bold in my choices, I think pretty much anyone could find something they like. I spent the day in Brooklyn, which honestly is quite like going to an entirely different city. It really reminds me of Philly (yep, I'm a Philly girl). I went to ReDress to drop off some wears and then to brunch with my peeps.
The funny thing is, I feel like white jeans don't even come to mind except for in fall. Obviously you know I don't really subscribe to conventional fashion rules. I wear what I want, when I want and that includes my thick ole' thighs in white pants.
I've said it like 1,000 times but I looooove mixing neutrals. So here it is again...one of my favs - white, black and brown. I do fear that my obsession with ankle length pants is going to cause a few issues once the temperature drops to Siberiaesque temps. Ahh well. Cold ankles, cute pants...you can guess which road I'll take on that one.
