Fare thee well 2011

Saturday, December 31, 2011
2011 has been a really incredible year. Lots of ups and downs but blessed none the less. It began with a pretty terrible knee injury of which I'm mostly recovered. Let's see...I has an amazing time at the Winter Music conference, worked with some amazing clients, one of my best friends got married, Mexico with my family.

Lived it up, loved it up, worried, cried, laughed...baby sister bought a house. So many incredible blessings. Though I started my blog late 2010, this year was the first that I've taken it really seriously and made regular updates and it has been a blast!

I want to take this moment to thank all of you that have supported me, all of your emails, comments mean the world to me. I really love this outlet. Expressing my style and sharing things that I love as it relates to fashion with you is such a treat. So thank you from the bottom of my heart! I look forward to growing the blog and appreciate the love you've shown for my shenanigans!

Here's my last OOTD post for the year. I figured why not my absolute fav trend of the year, Neon & Neutral + Black Leather. So here it is!

Jacket - Lane Bryant
Dress - Asos
Layerd Striped Cardi - (Though you can't see it is from Old Navy)
Booties - (They are so comfy I can't stop wearing them Cloud Walkers from Avenue)

Rain Rain Go Away

Wednesday, December 28, 2011
I just got back to the city yesterday from visiting home (Philly) for Christmas. It was a cold rainy messy day but thankfully my baby sis drove me and all of my bobbles back home. My sister's bestie Aayida and her daughter...our God daughter came along for the ride, so it ended up being a really fun day!

Aayida was a total rockstar and snapped a few flicks for me in the rain. I saw this purple wall and just had to jump in front of it. I wasn't really "blog outfit" prepped but none the less, I love how they turned out.

Here's what I'm wearing:
Hooded cape with leather pockets: TJ Maxx (*Size L cape usually fits most sizes, try things on)
Leo Dress: Asos
Zipper leggings: Avenue
Black zip up booties: Avenue

What makes you special when you're 30-something?

Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Every one enjoys each phase of their life, I have to say. I enjoyed my clothes when I was a child, a youngster, a teen, a young woman and now, well, I can still relate to my 'a girl who is no longer a girl' identity.

People normally agree it is after 34 that it is tricky for oneself to understand things as you don´t see big changes day by day, but something slightly...off. You need good friends and BIG mirrors!

I think that someone who accepts their age is more pleasing than someone who tries to dress younger. But everyone's different.

People first grew aware of being older; they worried a lot about "pulling things off" and the rules. Now I don't really care. It doesn't matter if you are 18 or 38, but if you dress with aptitude and knowledge of your own body and proclivities and lifestyle, what you wear will make sense for you.

In this over-teenagerized world the beauty of a grown up woman is sometimes minimized, but that doesn´t diminish at all its magnificence. I have never looked back, and I feel more comfortable with myself now than ever, but sometimes it can be not easy for women to see role models in the media who really embrace and love their age without fighting silly battles to stop the unstoppable and to make youth longer.

From the people in the streets you can get the most innocent opinion of your image as sometimes people just say things like: you look younger, etc just as a compliment but a woman looks so silly when she says :Everybody tells me I look younger...

"You look younger it´s a rather pitiful compliment."
"You look great! That´s a great one..."

Love your mid 30’s as how you loved your teen. Gather friends and enjoy your life with the trend that makes you more comfort at that time. Also mark your presence with the elegant dresses. Try to be a role model to your daughter as they are the precious gifts for you. “Mom, you look great….” These words from your loved daughters are more precious than to dress younger.

Casual Christmas

Monday, December 26, 2011
There's nothing like a visit home for the holidays. Christmas this year was hosted at my parents house for my family. I woke up super early to help my Mummy cook. It was great sharing the day with her in that way. It does involve a lot of running downstairs to the family room fridge where she stores all of the "big stuff" but I was happy to do it.

Grandma, aunties, uncles, cousins...it was all great fun. My family doesn't really do a full out glam Christmas, or any holiday really. We are all super tight and see each other often so I guess it's no reason to pull out our cocktail dresses and such haha.

My grandmother was wearing a fabulous sequined sweater with a sheer insert and mink hat. Her fashion sensibility is everything. So glamourous always.

Bonus: My dad comes outside with me to take a few flicks and my neighbor comes running out of the door with a giant pro Nikon and offered to do it for me. That cemented the fact that I need a camera upgrade in a major way.

Here's what I'm wearing:
Oversized sequined trim jacket - ASOS (always shop their straight sizes this is a 14 and fits)
Ripped Jeans - Avenue
Suede Pumps - Barefoot Tess
Gold Hoops - Jewelry store

Fashion Talk - Cambio’s MAKE THEM OVER

Thursday, December 22, 2011
Cambio, the online destination for teens and young adults, is at it again bringing their active audience revolutionary exclusive video content with MAKE THEM OVER, a fun web series following two sets of best friends getting ready for a red carpet event!

The first four episodes of MAKE THEM OVER follow best friend sets Caroline and Emily and Janice and Lillian, all savvy teen fashionistas, when they are surprised with a makeover for Angela and Vanessa Simmons Pastry Lite Shoe launch party. The girl’s excitement turns to nervousness when they find out that they will be dressed by the other best friend pair, whom they have never met before. To make matters even more confusing, the girls can only communicate via text and video messages with no live conversation allowed.

Watch as these girls communicate their fashion POV with the other best friend pair and hope that they will be made over in the style that they approve of for the Pasty Lite party.

Finders Keepers

I woke up the other day thinking about this outfit. It's always sort of amusing to me when that happens. Perhaps I was dreaming about clothes? Totally possible.

I'd been lusting after a denim shirt for a really long time, and though they are everywhere these days I couldn't find one that was the right color. Often times when I'm looking for something specific and can't find it I look on OSP. When a site has SO many product skews yes, you are bound to find rubbish that you hate, but you are also likely to find what you're looking for.

And there it was, the right color, wash and even appropriately 80's-esque ruffles on the shoulder seam.

Here's what I'm wearing:
Denim Shirt - One Stop Plus
Red/White Tee - One Stop Plus
Tribal Print Tights - Torrid
Booties - Blowfish
Bag - Badgely Mischka
African Mask Necklace - Soho Street Vendor

Spice Girl

Even though I'm all...birthday week giveaway bonanza style on your a$$e$ (HA!), I wanted to make sure that I actually took pics of some of the things that I'm wearing this week. This outfit is my random little spicy spicy. Spice colored blazer that I snagged from Simply Be (hint hint).

The sweater I featured recently in my Black Friday/Cyber Monday video (here). I mentioned that I wanted to wear it with red pants but since I still don't have any, I decided to try it with my (also) spicy leggings purchased from Asos last fall.

It's just a little experimental outfit that I took for a test drive. I kind of like it.

Above I'm laughing and telling my photog "Arnie L." to wait a tick but I ended up liking the silliness of this photo so boom here it is.

Here's what I'm wearing:
Blazer - Simply Be
Sweater - INC for Macy's
Leggings - ASOS
Bag - Marc Jacobs collection
Booties - Avenue (I know right! And comfy *gasp*)
