Holiday Hauteness

Ok...Monif C's new holiday looks are ridiculously fly. I'm sure everyone will be clamouring for the Nikita Leather Dress. The Nikita is a special order item which will take about 6 weeks for delivery and is totally non-refundable. Measure carefully...

OVER LOAD! Err...Over COAT

Amongst my few yet severe fashion addictions is my obsession with outerwear. Is that strange? I just love jackets, blazers, coats. Perhaps it's because I really don't like wearing the same thing over and over again and with a jacket or coat it's sort of like permission to rock the same damn thing day after day and well, that just makes me sad. Anyhoo...I limited myself to buying only 1jacket, and 1coat this season (which I've already exceeded and it's only October). I've compiled a roundup of pieces that work within 3 trends this season; Leather, Fur and Capes. Not a fan of "ponchos" (a'la Nanook of the North) but I love a structured cape! Hope you like!

1. This is my fav! Works beautifully as a blazer replacement. I love it over evening wear or with harem pants. - Nordstrom 2. Is casual cool to the max. Styled wonderfully as well. - Bloomingdales 3. Touch chic and then some! This piece goes everywhere...from work to weekend and even over a silky flouncy dress. - Nordstrom

1. Sexy, sexy, sexy...love the leather belt detail. - Nordstrom 2. This fur vest would make Rachel Zoe proud. It looks luxe, cool and polished all at once and I'm sure would be the one I don't put down all season! - Bloomingdales 3. The retro vibe of this coat makes it fun and kind of sassy...we love that! Easy to pair with jeans or over a dress at night. - Evans

1. Military inspired hotness from Asos Curve, this is definitely for the edgy and cool. 2. This would most certainly be the cape for me, it's chic, can be worn 1000 different ways and can go day/evening which I love. - Beth Ditto for Evans 3. Totally "posh"...I can't quite figure out where you'd be needing a fur trimed cape and open toe heels to be worn together but...ok? Still love it. - Saks

"Make it work..."

As a fatshionista...you are often forced to get very creative when trying to get exactly what you want when it comes to looking incredibly fly ;) Sometimes you very simply need to "make it work." I saw this top on Alloy.com and instantly loved it but felt the bandeau cheapened the look and made it way less fashion forward.

A lot of times we see something that isn't exactly right and leave it behind but this top prompted this long overdue blog entry (I do update Facebook regularly so if you're not already checking there please do)...

Instead of leaving this pretty fantastic top with the good people of Alloy.com I'm going to order it, remove the bandeau as I think it would look incredible over a strapless shift dress, tube dress or a number of other pieces. When it comes in and I alter it, I'll throw it on for an OOTD piece.
